After years of perseverance and collaboration between our team, the homeowners, and their insurance provider, work on this renovation was finally able to begin.
With the roof requiring a complete replacement, the home was fully wrapped in scaffolding to protect the interior from the elements once opened up. From there, we began the meticulous process of stripping the structure back to its bones, carefully preserving its historical features before moving into full restoration.
The subfloor, piles, and sections of framing were replaced, followed by the installation of a recycled Rimu floor. We also fitted new skirting, cedar shingle cladding, and bespoke steel window joinery including double glazing and new leadlight windows, all with custom made rimu trims.
The interior woodwork underwent an extensive refinishing process: the old varnish was removed, and to achieve a consistent tone across various timbers, some doors were carefully stained to match. Every piece was then sealed and finished with two top coats of polyurethane, bringing out the natural beauty and character of the wood.
A flawless paint finish tied everything together, completing the final stage of this restoration.
